Description
Journey to the Heart is a 10-day retreat founded by Rev. Dr. Bill Gothard of the Institute of Basic Life Principles. Each group of about 10-15 young men and women will travel up to Oak Brook, IL and later the Northwoods Conference Center of MI, where they will spend a heart-changing time with the Lord.

The ineffable experiences you will encounter are unlike anything you’ve been through. With the majority of the Journey located in the gorgeous Northwoods Conference Center in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, you can slip away from the stress of the world and focus on God alone. During this time there is no set schedule; every minute is led by the Lord. Whether you spend your time reading or meditating on God’s Word, pray as a group in one accord, or enjoy God’s beautiful creation, you will be able to experience God in a way you have never before. This is a heart-to-heart encounter with your Savior that has changed lives. Many have seen supernatural spiritual and physical healing, a nonbeliever converted to Christianity, freedom from a person’s past, and broken relationships restored. Having personally been to 3 of these powerful retreats, I can testify to the presence of God when your group is one accord.
Many attendees report the “Day of Delighting in the Lord” to be their favorite part of the event. It is spent fasting and being more alert to hearing the voice of the Lord. Throughout the day, attendees are encouraged to read through Psalm 119 and have some alone time studying the passages. Then the group meets together, and then separate for personal study again. This cycle continues throughout the day, with an “Hour of Prayer” in the middle for you to learn how to spend an hour talking to God and experiencing His presence in your prayers.
The weekends of your arrival and departure are spent at the Institute in Basic Life Principles’ Headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois. Here you will be taught how to prepare for and apply your journey. You can also meet members of other teams and acquaint yourself with the staff at HQ.
